The DSA Trailer Towing test is conducted at the test centre where normal LGV tests are carried out and follow the same format.

 

The content of the test is as follows:

 

· Show me / tell me questions relating to basic daily checks on the vehicle and trailer

· Reversing exercise

· Braking exercise

· Road drive of approximately 50 minutes to encompass varying road and traffic conditions

· Coupling and uncoupling exercise

The items below although not a requirement of the test, would normally be included in the syllabus

· Safe loading security

· Snaking and instability

· Pre-towing inspections

· Safe manoeuvring

Throughout your training course you will be given  as much practice in the above procedures as required, we would usually include a mock driving test during your course.

Your training and test will be carried out using a Landrover Discovery TD5 and a box van trailer, a highly qualified DSA registered instructor will guide you through the requirements to hopefully pass the test first time, our current 1st time pass rate for B+E courses is 85%
